About
I'm a Ph.D. student in theology at Yale University, with a focus on ancient and medieval Christianity in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
Syriac Christianity is my main passion, but I also have an ongoing flirtation with Christian Arabic/Garshuni, and with Armenian, Ethiopian, and Coptic Christianity.
I am especially interested in Syriac ascetical theology, the intersections between medieval mystical and medical thought, the reception of Greek theology (Evagrius, Pseudo-Dionysius, etc.) in the Syriac and Arabic Christian traditions, and religious interactions along the medieval Silk Road.
I have taught at seminaries in Ukraine and Iraq, and enjoy playing with manuscripts, traveling, and hanging out with nuns.
I also have secret side interests in ecumenism, contemporary world Christianity, and Anglican monasticism.
